Have you ever felt discouraged?

Discouragement can hit us all, no matter how hard we try to avoid it. It can be triggered by a failed project, a missed opportunity, or a range of other setbacks that can leave us feeling powerless and unsure of ourselves.

But it’s important to remember that these moments of discouragement are temporary. They may slow us down or throw us off course, but they don’t define who we are or what we’re capable of achieving.

So, I’m going to share with you seven ways to handle when you’re feeling discouraged.

1. Remember some of your past victories.

It is important to acknowledge our achievements and give ourselves credit for our successes. Often, we fail to take the time to reflect on what we have accomplished. I encourage you to take a moment to reflect on the things that you are proud of achieving. It is a valuable exercise to review and appreciate your past successes.

2. Keep an encouragement file.

Keeping a file of positive feedback and reviews from your customers can be a powerful tool to remind yourself of the impact you’ve made on others and the value you bring to the table.

Remember that running a business is not easy and there will inevitably be ups and downs. But having a collection of positive feedback can help you to stay focused on the bigger picture and remind you of why you started your business in the first place.

3. Get moving.

It can be helpful to break up your daily routine and change your surroundings when you’re feeling discouraged. Consider taking a walk outdoors or listening to uplifting music to boost your mood and motivation. Find a way to connect with your spirituality or engage in activities that bring you joy and fulfillment.

By getting up, getting out, and moving, you can shift your perspective and improve your outlook. Don’t be afraid to mix things up and try something new to break out of any negative patterns or thought processes.

4. Take a break.

If you’re feeling discouraged, consider taking a break from your work and switching up your environment to help boost your motivation. This could mean working from a different location or simply taking a short 15-minute break to clear your mind and break the cycle of negative thoughts. By giving yourself a chance to recharge and reset, you may find that you’re better equipped to tackle your tasks with renewed energy and focus. So don’t be afraid to take a step back and give yourself the time and space you need to feel refreshed and ready to tackle the challenges ahead.

5. Grab a lunch with someone who encourages you.

If you’re feeling discouraged, consider reaching out to someone who encourages you and schedule a lunch date together. Spending time with someone who motivates and inspires you can be a powerful way to boost your mood and help you overcome any challenges you’re facing.

Remember that you don’t have to go through tough times alone. Sometimes, all it takes is a listening ear, a kind word, or a comforting hug from someone who cares about you to help you get back on track. So don’t be afraid to lean on your support system and seek out the people who bring positivity and encouragement into your life.

6. Don’t spend too much time with friends who are discouraging you or business besties that’s discouraging you.

Surrounding yourself with individuals who encourage and support you can have a positive impact on your motivation and productivity. Spending too much time with individuals who discourage or drain you can be detrimental to your progress.

While it may not be possible to eliminate all interactions with individuals who may be discouraging or draining, it is important to limit your exposure to them as much as possible. If you find yourself in a situation where individuals are not supportive of your business or your goals, it may be time to reevaluate your circle and seek out more positive influences.

Remember, both positivity and negativity can be contagious, so it is important to be intentional about the types of people with whom you surround yourself.

7. Work on something new.

Don’t get stuck in the same old routine. Try something new and mix up your projects. It can help you break out of a rut and find new inspiration. Take care of your core responsibilities, but make time for activities that bring you joy and recharge your energy. Remember that every new experience is an opportunity for growth and learning.

Don’t let the fear of failure or disappointment hold you back. Keep pushing forward, and know that every step you take towards your goals, no matter how small, is a step towards your success. You are capable of great things, so don’t give up on yourself. Keep fighting and striving for your dreams, and you will find the strength and courage to overcome any obstacle that comes your way. Be profitable and be blessed.
